Bringing you a cute life style. ❤: How to make Spicy Salmon Rolls!!

4/16/12
So today! My boyfriend, Thanh ('Tawn' is how you would prounounce it. lol xD), and I went to do a little food shopping in the morning.. to make what~? ---- Suuuuuuuuushi! ! Hehehehe... one of my FAVORITE rolls is the spicy salmon/tuna roll ~ ! ! ! We went to our local seafood place to get some fish but unfortunately, they didn't have fresh sushi graded tuna for us... ;___; but it was okay~ they had salmon nonetheless.. so we picked a huge chunk of that and went on to the Asian market for the nori sheets, Wal-Mart for rice, rice vinegar, sesame seed oil, and other things!!

The key thing about making sushi is creativity! There is endless possibilities when making all sorts of sushi! ^___^ So make sure you got that, which I'm sure you do ~ xD Anyways, what I brought for you guys today is a few simple ingredients on to making spicy salmon rolls! Let's roll out, and get started shall we?! xP Damn puns! lol~! I will break it out in 2 sections for you with the ingredients! :) One for SUSHI RICE, and one for SPICY MAYO! ^__^

1.) 3 cup of Japanese rice!
2.) 3/4 of water!
3.) 1/2 cup of rice vinegar!
4.) 1/4 of sugar!
5.) 1/2 of sesame seed oil!

Ingredients for Spicy Mayo!

1.) 1/2 cup of Mayonnaise

---- The ESSENTIAL ingredients! :) Japanese rice, sesame seed oil, rice vinegar, nori sheets, salmon. (other ingredients are optional and depends on your creativity! :D)

1.) Let's get the rice cookin' first! Because that takes about 15 minutes to be ready! If you have a rice cooker! --- Awesome! If not, don't fret! You can use a pot and stove~ but first! We have to rinse out the rice, so rinse the rice in water until the water is clear ! Pour out the water and thats when you want to go ahead and measure out 3/4 cup of water in there~ (if you have more rice, add more water~ ^^ ya know the drill~)

--- After the clean rinse, go ahead put the rice & water in the rice cooker pot and in there it goes! If you don't have a rice cooker~ just use a simple pot and turn on the stove~ and cover the pot and then til the rice soaks up all the water. =) Same concept as the rice cooker pretty much! but it's pretty much manual~ when you use pot & stove method!

2.) Next stop~ fileting your fish! If it's not alreadyyyyy~ xD .. Well-- mine wasn't! lol Wash it gently a bit to get all the 'scaleys' out... so on to fileting!! Whoooooooosh~

---- Be careful now~ and I pretty much used a filet knife to just easily slide right under the skin and just... sliddddd straight through it! If you are not comfortable with the fileting~ ask someone to help you that is more confident! Don't want to risk hurting yourself! >.< ! ---- ^___^ Make sure to get it reallllll nice and goood~

---- Toss that bad boy in the soil can! xD In you go!!! You scaley-ness! hehehe~

3.) Alright! After you are done cleaning up the fishy, we want to cut it! You want to cut it in a slanted way! Unfortunately, Thanh didn't take some quick snapshots on how to do it because he was too busy watching TV! -o- ! but its pretty simple! Cut them in diagonal slices if that makes more sense to you! ^____^ or actually, let your creativity kick in! :D but make them thin cause you'll have to roll it with all sorts of stuff later on!

4.) Okay, after all that cutting.. it's time to make that spicy mayo! Bust out all your ingredients for it! I went ahead and took a spoon and scooped up a wad of mayo! and same goes for the siracha sauce ('rooster' chili sauce found in local Asian markets or EVEN WAL-MART!), a bit of wasabi, and masago in there!! BAM!! and mix it well!!! :D

5.) Go ahead and mix the salmon in the spicy mayo you just witch-crafted up! and saran wrap it and in the fridge!;D

6.) If the rice isn't done yet~ take a quick break! Use the potty! Get some water or something!!! We're almost done.... sorta.. LOL xD Ok ok ok, we're almost done! :) but during this time, while the rice is finishing up cooking! Use your creativity and think what you want to add in your roll.. but in this case, I'm showing you how to make a spicy salmon roll so ~ I will be using very thin slices of cucumber, thin slices of avocado, and masago (fish roe) to my roll.

---- Sliced up cucumbers, avocado, and masago ready up!

----- Rice is done! Mix your ingredients in there! :) With the rice vinegar, sesame seed oil, and a pinch of sugar~

7.) Mix your rice up with the ingredients! I use my hands ;D I put a bit of sesame seed oil on my hands so it wont stick too drastically on me! ... After that is done....... IT IS TIMEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

---- NORI SHEET! CHECK!

---- Get a big hunk of rice and spread thinly throughout the sheet~ I leave the other side of the sheet a bit empty so it won't end up looking too thick and having waaaay too much rice~ I scrape a few pieces on there though so it can stick!

---- Added spicy salmon concoction! xD

---- The greens. :P (cucumber and avocado)

---- Masago. Affirmative.

---- Tightly rolling the roll.. ^__^ and be sure its secured~ if your nori starts to crack.. don't worry.. just get a few drops of sesame seed oil and smear on the parts where its cracking~

---- Be sure to get a sharp knife~ sushi knife would be good.... LOL of course~ @-@ and be sure to cut it FAST.. do not slowly cut it cause that will allow it to drag and can tear the nori and everything~ ;3 Once again, BE CAREFUL~

---- ^___^ Sushi placement... my boyfriend did... Not bad... lol

TA - DA!

Now you have it! Spicy salmon roll~ Took me approximately an hour for EVERYTHING in the making of this such roll! Thank you so much for the time to read this and I HOPE this had helped you in some way! ^____^ Could always leave a comment or email if there is any questions of the curiosity! ;D Hehehe~ It was NOMMY(yummmmmmy~) btw~ ;D
